Guests: Tony Cammarata, Director of Development & Planning; Gates Lloyd, Snowsports Director

EP4: Replacing the Lenawee Lift to Reduce Lines
Friday Sep 16, 2022
Friday Sep 16, 2022
Episode 4 of Arapahoe Basin Ski Area's podcast digs into the why and how we are replacing a perfectly good lift. Lenawee is critical infrastructure because it serves a significant portion of our terrain and travels from mid-mountain to the summit. Lenawee was built in 2001 and was last a slow-speed 3-chair. It was also the one remaining pinch point on the mountain. By swapping in a high-speed 6 (and sending the entire lift to Sunlight Mountain in Colorado to be re-used), we are creating an even better experience with less standing around and more skiing and riding.
Guests: Louis Skowyra, Mountain Operations Director; Mike Nathan, Sustainability Manager

EP3: Building Mountain Bike Trails at A-Basin
Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
Arapahoe Basin has begun construction of a 12-mile, bike-optimized singletrack trail intended to be a backcountry-style destination ride. This summer, the crown jewel of the route is being built: a 6-mile, bike-only directional loop through The Beavers and Pali terrain areas. We sat down with the trail's designer and longtime A-Basin local, Joey Klein, to get an understanding of what this experience will be like, and why it's being built this way.

EP2: The How and Why of Spring Skiing
Wednesday May 11, 2022
Wednesday May 11, 2022
In episode 2, hosts Katherine Fuller and Jesse True sit down to talk about how and why Arapahoe Basin has the longest ski and ride season in Colorado. Jesse gives us some perspective relative to the rest of the ski industry and pokes fun at Katherine's love of recreating in jean shorts.
Later, they are joined by Louis "Lou Dog" Skowyra, A-Basin's operations director in charge of lifts and slopes maintenance, and Ryan "Sunshine" Evanczyk, A-Basin's ski patrol director. Louis and Ryan talk about the uniqueness of spring snow and spring terrain management, what it's like staying open until the 4th of July, and what happens if you ski naked.
